Work Based Learning Student Placements from the University of Chester
9th May – 10th June 2011
The University of Chester firmly believes in working in partnership with businesses and communities to ensure that graduates are equipped for life beyond academic study.
The Work Based Learning module has long been an intrinsic part of undergraduate studies at the university, representing productive collaboration through meaningful work placements that produce lasting outcomes for both students and future employers.
- 5-week placement, minimum of 30 hours a week, at no cost.
- Second year undergraduate from a range of disciplines.
- An extra pair of hands to take responsibility for an area of the business or a stand-alone project.
During the placement students are expected to carry out their role in a professional manner with the aim of collaborating with the placement provider and contributing to the organisation.
The workplace is a rich learning environment for all and we hope that the nature of the assessment reflects this. As such the placement can be successful on two levels:
- Practically the student can apply their skills and take ownership of a series of tasks or a project.
- Academically the student can reflect on what they have learnt through this process and how this may be applied in the future.
