About Us
The food and drink sector has been identified by the Northwest Regional Development Agency as a priority growth sector within the regional economic strategy and FoodNW is tasked with boosting the growth of this dynamic industry.
Core funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, FoodNW aims to help businesses in the sector to maximise their economic potential and increase productivity and output, working with all parts of the sector, including food retail and service, wholesale, distribution, food processing and agriculture.
The recent success of an £8 million ERDF bid will enable FoodNW to focus on specific areas of need within the NW Food and Drink Sector;
- Technical Support: through partnership working with many of the regions universities FoodNW will be able to provide technical support for SME’s,
- Local and Speciality Foods: support for the regions local and speciality sector through partnership working with sub regional delivery bodies
- Business Resilience: providing help for businesses to aid with reducing risk within all aspects of the company
- Organic and Ethnic Foods: through partnership working with Enterprise4all a programme of work looking at amalgamating ethnic and mainstream supply chains and a programme of support for organic businesses within the region.
Coupled with a project in excess of £1million looking at specific company supply chains and potential efficiencies within them, Food NW aims to help nurture a successful and stable Food and Drink economy in the NW Region.
Food NW also continues to work closely with the Food Standards Agency, facilitating the delivery of a food safety management system into NW catering establishments, over 3000 businesses to date have successfully implemented a recommended food safety management system.
