Healthy Eating

'To improve the provision of and access to safe and healthier foods for all sections of society in the North West and i mproving education and awareness of safe food and healthy diets (for consumers and industry).'

The Northwest has some of the highest levels of dietary related ill health in the UK. Cardiovascular disease and cancer are the top two causes of death in the region, which also has high levels of overweight and obesity.  Food poisonings are also a health concern.  Poor health reduces productivity and directly affects the economic productivity of the region.

This strategy will help to improve access to and the supply of healthier food in our region through encouraging the development of and access to food with positive health benefits.
