Quality, Local and Specialty Foods

Food Northwest is responsible for the growth of the Food and Drink Sector in the Northwest and ensuring that all food related public sector funding works towards a common strategy and action plan for the benefit and long term sustainability of the Food and Drink Industry. The sub regional food groups, Made In Cheshire , Made In Lancashire   and Made In Cumbria all receive funding through Food Northwest to achieve elements towards a common strategy and action plan. At present a review of delivery is taking place.

Organics is also seen as part of the regions offering for quality, local and specialty foods and has long being supported by the food and cluster organisation. In 2004, in partnership with the Soil Association and Cumbria Organics, the Northwest Organics Centre was created receiving just over £370,000 of public funds over 3 years, their achievements to date speak for themselves.
