Food NW Gold Heart Award winner 2011 – Stem Ginger Biscuits
Food NW Heart Award winner 2011 – Homemade Lemonade Cordial
Alison Heler started her business 10 years ago after realising she wanted to use her creativity, that working as a business consultant for large companies didn’t always allow her to do. Driven by a desire to produce something tangible at the end of the day, and having always loved cooking, she began making biscuits in her kitchen in Sandbach and the rest is history.
She started off selling her products at farmers markets and has now grown the business to supply shops and hotels across the Northwest and Cheshire. She has part-time support but works around the clock to hand-make and deliver her biscuits personally.
Her winning ‘Stem Ginger Biscuits’ are from the same recipe as those she starting making 10 years ago, have always been her best seller, and picked up a top award at last year’s Fine Food Awards.
Alison’s product range includes biscuits, eight different homemade cordials, jams and preserves, cakes and flapjacks.
Passionate about her products, she says the secret to her success is keeping it simple.
Alison says: “I am delighted to win for the second year running. I think it’s down to making a really simple biscuit with really good ingredients. It isn’t over complicated, which allows the true flavour to really come out. Winning awards like these is a great selling point, helping to boost confidence and win new customers.”
