Singapore - British Promotion
Regent Hotel 20th November – 6th December 2009
In Singapore there is a planned British promotion at the Regent Hotel, part of the Four Seasons Group, to be held from 20 November to 6 December in the run up to the festive season.
There are two elements to the event. First is to introduce new UK products at their English Afternoon Tea, which they are well known for. Held daily at their elegant lobby lounge, the items are offered on their signature three tier cake stand, while a wider buffet selection is offered on weekends. Secondly, they plan to introduce new UK products at their deli, which already features several British products.
The products of interest are:
1. Frozen pies - traditional ones such as Melton Mowbray pies, Cornish pasties etc
2. Organic products
3. Tea - A good range to be displayed at a dedicated tea counter in the lounge
4. Beverages - sparkling drinks, cordials, ready to drink
5. Chocolates
6. Festive packaged products.
7. Any other items suitable for both the Tea and the Deli.
For the pies, all meat except beef is allowed into Singapore, but would require a health certificate to accompany the products. All regulations are detailed on the website of the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (www.ava.gov.sg ).

You can also send samples (ambient products) to Valsa which she can pass to the hotel (Executive Chef and F&B Director) for their evaluation. If the products and prices are suitable, you will be put in touch with two local distributors who have agreed to receive and clear shipments on behalf of the hotel.
Selected suppliers should be ready to provide free samples for the hotel's PR team to interest the media to cover the products. The British High Commission shall also highlight the promotion through their usual channels (website, e-newsletters, UK and Singapore multipliers). Valsa can also provide you with details of five distributors that you could contact for possible future representation, as the hotel will require exclusivity for the launch and promotion, but the companies are open to finding representatives for wider coverage afterwards. This service will be offered at a cost of £245 through UKTI's OMIS system.
New to market companies will find this a useful avenue to test the market. As the Regent is keen to finalise the products, please advise respond as soon as possible.
