Call for contributors to University of Cambridge manufacturing survey

You are no doubt already well aware of the commitment made by the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills for industrial activism that can help companies survive the recession and emerge as strong global competitors on the other side. The RDAs are playing a key role in this concerted effort to help manufacturing balance the economy – not only by bring forward key investments for the sector, but also by providing intelligence needed to inform current and future policy.

England’s RDAs, including NWDA are therefore supporting research being taken forward by the IfM, University of Cambridge (with grant funding from the Gatsby Foundation), into high value production through a survey of companies across the UK. The survey is attempting to further understanding of the importance of retaining production and the impact of the location of production to company performance.

The stronger the evidence base, the better targeted and prioritised support for engineering and manufacturing firms will be; by understanding how your company is structured and it's profitability and turnover growth, we hope to identify which patterns of production ownership and location may provide the best returns and hence the policy measures needed to best ensure future manufacturing growth and economic competitiveness.

How to take part:
