Farmer of the Year
John Geldard was crowned 2007 Farmers Weekly Farmer of the Year at aglittering cermemony in London on 31st October.
The livestock farmer, from Low Foulshaw in Cumbria is the creator of the Plumgarth's brand which supplies more than 100 local hotels and restaurants, 18 Asda stores and Penrith Centre Parcs with high quality beef and sheep.
Mr Geldard, who was also named Local Food Farmer of the year beat off competition from 11 other category winners on the night to take a standing ovation from the 1,000 strong guest list.
The award was given to Mr GEldard for his vison and leadership which has had such a powerfulimpacy on his own business.
As a Northwest businessman John Geldard has worked closely with Food Northwest on the Stabiliser Beef project and sits on the organisations Red Meat group.
