Nantwich Cheese Show set for another record-breaking year

12 February 2008

The Nantwich International Cheese Show 2008 is set to be the biggest and best event yet, after increasing its capacity to meet competitor and exhibitor demand.

The cheese industry's premier competition will take place in a record-breaking 58,000 sq ft marquee.  New suspended cassette flooring and air conditioning will ensure that the Show – which runs from 29 to 30 July - can handle any kind of summer weather.

Last year a world record 2,270 entries from 24 countries in the 154 competition classes represented the cream of the UK and international cheesemaking industry.  The accolade of Supreme Champion 2007 was won by an extra mature cheddar from Davidstow Creamery in Cornwall.

Over 30,000 visitors regularly attend the Show to buy and taste the finest cheeses from across the world, alongside supermarket and independent trade buyers.

For the first time this year, the Show organisers are offering trade exhibitors shell scheme stands.  According to Show Secretary Adrian Lawrence, strong demand means the 60 available trade stands are selling out quickly.  Exhibitors already signed up include Avilton Foods, Bradbury & Son, Dairy Crest, Dewlay, Lactalis McLelland, PFM Packaging, Tesco and Wyke Farms.

The Show is the highlight of the cheese industry calendar, and we are delighted to welcome exhibitors and competitors from around the world, whether they are large commercial producers or small independent cheesemakers," says Adrian Lawrence.

The closing date for competition entries is 7 June.  For more details about competing or taking a trade stand at Nantwich, please contact Adrian Lawrence on 01270 780306 or go to the website www.nantwichshow.co.uk .
