Northwest companies scoop Gold at Great Taste Awards
Companies from the Northwest are celebrating today as the results of this year’s Great Taste Awards are finally published.
Now in its 15th year, the Great Taste Awards is run by the Guild of Fine Food to recognise quality food producers. This year a record 2021 small food producers entered just under 4,800 foods for judging. In total there were over 1150 gold awards granted, of which 847 achieved 1 star, 220 were awarded 2 stars and 72 received the coveted 3 star awards.
All products are blind tasted by teams of expert judges, firstly to establish whether a product is good enough to be awarded a Gold, then again to confirm this, and finally to decide how many stars they are going to be awarded. It is at the third stage of judging that the big awards are also decided, including the Best Speciality in the Northwest Award that this year is sponsored by Food Northwest.
This year 26 Northwest companies have achieved Gold Awards with 49 fantastic products, a full list of winners can be downloaded here
