Cumbrian brewer enjoys international award success

08th October 2009

Cumbria-based brewer Jennings has won two awards in a global competition involving 30 expert tasters from around the world.

According to the News and Star newspaper, the Cockermouth firm picked up a gold prize for its Snecklifter beer, while its Cumberland Ale netted it a silver award.

More than 300 beers were tasted as part of the competition, with gold, silver and bronze prizes given to the highest-scoring entries.

Jennings brand ambassador Gaynor Green said: "It's fantastic that Jennings has been singled out and it just shows what all of us have known up here for some time - that we produce world-class beers."

Snecklifter and Cumberland Ale will now both be entered into a second round of the contest, which will crown the best beer in each category as well as an overall winner.

Other ales in the Jennings range are Cocker Hoop and Jennings Bitter, as well as a variety of seasonal beers.
