Food for the North West’s homeless over the Christmas period
3000 Christmas lunches and other festive foods will be made available to 40 charities in the North West in time for Christmas day.
The joint initiative between food charities FareShare Manchester and BEFA (Buckingham Emergency Food Appeal), now in its second year, is aimed at helping the homeless and people in need in Manchester and surrounding areas at Christmas.
Food donated by BEFA is being distributed by FareShare Manchester from its depot in New Smithfield Market.
Over the Christmas period FareShare Manchester will continue its regular deliveries of around 1500 meals a day (or 25 tonnes of food per month) using surplus food donated from local supermarkets and food manufacturers.
