Shanghai Expo Northwest Agri-Food event 

Liverpool Pavilion on the 3rd June

An event is planned in the Liverpool Pavilion at Shanghai Expo to showcase our world leading research and expertise in the agri-food sector, network with existing contacts and raise the awareness of the NW offer in China.

The event will include Reaseheath College, who will outline their full supply chain research expertise in the dairy supply chain. The college, based in Cheshire, are unique in being able to offer a model dairy herd, state of the art milking facilities and access to the latest dairy processing equipment within the newly open food processing halls.   Reaseheath are already central to Europe wide high level skills programme within the dairy sector.

Also attending the event is the University of Liverpool’s School of Vetinary Science.  The school is recognized as the premier veterinary school in the United Kingdom  in the area of farm animal health and welfare.  It has wide links with industry including a unique collaboration with Tesco in the “Tesco Centre of Dairy Excellence” based at the newly extended University Wood Park Farm.  Academic staff are key providers of training to both Vets and agricultural advisors in a major Herd Health Planning exercise in the North West funded by NWDA and have considerable expertise and experience in training veterinarians and other animal health professionals in delivery of Herd Health Planning.

The group is joined by Lancaster Environment Centre based with Lancaster University.  The centre is already working closely with the Chinese government and university base but seeks to build on and increase its links.  The focus of the University is around sustainable agricultural systems and reducing the environmental impact of the agricultural sector.

Finally the group is joined by Genus.  Based in Cheshire Genus are the world leaders in cattle genetic solutions, and the Genus Moet herd, housed with Reaseheath is renowned as being the most genetically advanced dairy herd in the world.

The event will take place on the 3rd , and is supported by the Shanghai Dairy Association.  The event will be attended by key members of the Chinese Government, academics and leading industry players.

The group will then move on to host a seminar at the World Dairy Expo in Qingdao on the 8th June.
