£2.5m in business cost savings identified through support provided by Food NW to North West food and drink companies.
Under the Enworks Resource Efficiency Programme, Food NW has identified £2.5M worth of cost savings for Food & Drink companies across the North West during the last 18 months.
In the process Food NW has also helped local businesses achieve annual environmental savings of over 1,700 tonnes of CO2e and 59,600 m3 of water, as well as hundreds of tonnes of materials and waste diverted from landfill.
A Manchester bakery was advised that a number of energy efficiency actions could save the company over £30,000 within a 2 year payback period, cost savings of over £100,000 were identified at a company in Knutsford while, following the work undertaken by Food NW with a food company in Nelson, over £12,000 cost savings were identified with approximately £9,500 already being achieved through the implementation of the improvement measures highlighted.
Often low cost and quick win measures can be easily identified. Following onsite support from technical advisors under the programme, cost saving recommendations are highlighted, covering a range of areas, including energy, waste, water, process flow efficiency, operational efficiency, transport, packaging and material usage.
If you are interested in finding out more about how you can save money through environmental efficiencies in your business, Food NW are hosting a free one day seminar at The Heath in Runcorn on Tuesday 15th November.
