Welcome to Seafood Northwest
Seafood Northwest is an organisation set up to represent the interests of all sectors of the fishing industry in the north west region of England at local, regional, national and European levels. Members of the group are drawn not only from the industry but also from other stakeholder groups including local authorities, training agencies, and the Sea Fish Industry Authority. Meetings of the group are open to anyone with an interest in the development of the fisheries sector in the North West.
The members of Seafood Northwest determined recently that a strategy for the fisheries industry based in the North West region of England should be developed with the main aims of:
- ensuring the long- term future of all sectors of the industry through planned, cohesive action; and
- infkuencing public policy and presenting a case for financial support.
The strategy will help to inform Seafood Northwest's Action Plan which details what is required for the seafood industry in the North West in terms of fitting 'fish' interests into the priorities of the North West Food and Drink Strategy 2006- 2011 .
